It has always struck me as especially hypocritical that those who advanced their lives partly on the feminist ideal of the sovereignty of one’s own body could then denounce that principle in order to sustain the very boundaries that it was meant to challenge.

I am reminded of Clarence Thomas, who supposedly rejects race as socially relevant, but famously invoked it to claim victimhood during his confirmation hearings, and then later revealed that he held his own education in contempt solely on those grounds.

It might occur to me that such grasping, vindictive personalities are a consequence of systematic oppression, but sadly it seems to be all too common in general.
